Now Hiring: Campaign Intern

Transportation for America is currently seeking an intern for Fall 2009 and/or Spring 2010. Responsibilities will include conducting research, writing policy briefs, tracking transportation news, legislation and leaders. Candidate will also complete a minimum of one project during the term of their internship connecting transportation policy to one of the following national sectors: businesses, health, university, and developer communities. The campaign is staffed by Smart Growth America and Reconnecting America.

Requirements: These positions requires a self-motivated and detail-oriented person with excellent communication, writing and organizational skills. The candidate should be highly computer literate. Candidates must have exemplary research and writing skills. Candidates should be willing to publicly represent the campaign at meetings with partners and allies.  Familiarity with, as well as a strong interest in field of national politics is required.  A strong interest in, or willingness to gain a stronger understanding for transportation policy, land-use planning and smart growth is required. Both undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to apply.

Compensation and Time Frame: Start and end dates and work hours are flexible based on the intern’s schedule. Spring interns are expected to work between 10 and 40 hours a week for a minimum of 10 weeks, and attend staff meetings when relevant.  Interns may receive academic credit if an agreement is made between T4 America and the intern’s college or university. All interns are subject to the applicable employee rules.
