CAMPAIGN NEWS: The latest

Welcome to Transportation for America
July 9, 2008

America is at a crossroads. Burdened with soaring fuel prices, more and more people are seeing their dreams slipping away amid the escalating costs of transportation and a lack of housing that is affordable near good jobs, schools, shops and parks. Our national dependence on oil leaves us vulnerable to unstable parts of the world, uncertain supplies and the whims of oil companies, and contributes significantly to global climate change. Yet our national transportation program, geared toward solving yesterday’s problems rather than building America’s future, seems incapable of delivering the world-class options we deserve, whether it be inter-city or urban rail, clean buses, streets for safe walking and biking or well-maintained bridges and highways.
