Amendments to cut funding for TIGER grants, livability and other programs were either withdrawn or defeated in the House yesterday. (Politico)

The demise of climate legislation could lead to a carbon tax later, but for now all it has led to is a “dreadful mess.” (Economist)

And while visiting Wisconsin, Transportation Secretary declared that “there’s no stopping” high-speed rail. (Wisc State Journal)

By framing the discussion as “finding new revenue” you have surrendered without a fight. Public transit SAVES money. The conservative Economist magazine has said it many times. It is an investment that pays you back immediately and long-term. It is up to us to constantly frame it that way. We should be saying “Shame on the govt for not SAVING us money by investing in transit…” and then give some examples. Here is some money we can use to make that investment:
