Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, a Rhode Island Democrat, wants to see a second stimulus bill targeted to needed infrastructure projects. “We’ve got to fix it – why don’t we do it now?” he asks. (Politico)
The Rosslyn-Ballston corridor in Northern Virginia – served by five Metro subway stops – is profiled in the New York Times as “an oasis of stability” and, as one developer put it, “an ideal submarket for transit-oriented, mixed-use development.” (NYT)
Washington Post Metro columnist Robert McCartney is glad to see Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell talking about transportation improvements, but does not think he is being honest about how to pay for it. (WP)
Workers at a Sacramento manufacturing facility are building 57 low-floor light-rail vehicles for San Diego’s metropolitan transit system. (Sacramento Bee)
At the Columbia Heights Mall in central Washington DC, planners anticipated a need for a 1,000 space garage, but the city has already lost nearly $2 million because the lot is half-empty most of the time. (WP)
