In Maine the Amtrak "Downeaster" passenger rail service between Portland and Boston operational funding has been through CMAQ funding in SAFTI-LU. The state rail authority has told us that the CMAQ funding will be extended in the new Highway bill authroization. But that is not certain. We are getting confliciting reports as to whether Maine will get these funds. I beelive right now we are part of the extension, but the rail authority is counting (literally) on the CMAQ funding being part of the new reauthroization.

Can anyone with T-4 America clarify the sattus of Maine's CMAQ money for the Downeaster service?

Great Job you guys are doing...

Nathanael

We're looking into the specifics on the rescission and will hopefully post that on Friday. If not, look for it on Monday. There's some question as to whether or not the rescission will cover funding from just the FHWA (highways) or also the FTA (transit). Keep in mind that highway spending also covers many beneficial things like bridge improvement, repairing critical assets, congestion and air quality improvement, and bike and pedestrian facilities.

From the description, recission mostly affects highway funds. Does it affect any of the mass-transit or rail funding? Was there any mass-transit money which wasn't obligated?
