Transportation Bill Countup Clock

Have you seen the clock on top of our site counting up the hundreds of days since the last transportation bill expired? Want to put it on your site?

Not many people outside of Washington, D.C. paid much attention when the last six-year transportation bill expired on September 30, 2009. Congress has been kicking the can down the road ever since with a series of stopgap extensions while our infrastructure continues to crumble, transit riders face ballooning fares and shrinking service, and we’re all stuck in traffic going nowhere fast. Help us put pressure on Congress while spreading the message that we’re cruising along and propping up a broken system at a time when we should be putting Americans to work building the next generation of transportation infrastructure.

Help us out by installing this clock on your site. Grab the code in the box below and paste it onto your site in the sidebar or anywhere that’s at least 160 pixels wide to install. Contact T4 America site editor Steve Davis with any issues.

Streetsblog Network Action Widget

We’ve partnered with the The Streetsblog Network to help build a grassroots livable streets movement by bringing together progressive transportation policy bloggers across the United States. Add this Action Widget to your web site to show that you are a member of the Network and to help keep your readers engaged in the fight to improve federal transportation policy. Or grab a Transportation for America badge to show your support for the campaign.

The Action Widget is updated regularly with legislative action alerts, breaking news and top stories from blogs participating in the Streetsblog Network. It’s a great tool for keeping your readers informed, mobilized and connected to Livable Streets issues and activists in other cities. At right is an example of how the Action Widget would appear when we send out an alert. Most of the time, the Action Widget will feature Top Stories from the Streetsblog Network.

To install the Action Widget on your blog, copy the code below. If you need help with installing the code or with the badges below, contact T4 editor Steve Davis.

* The Streetsblog Network Action Widget is 400 pixels tall, and will automatically scale horizontally to fit the width of your blog’s sidebar. FYI, you can also get Streetsblog and Livable Streets badges from Streetsblog.
